Welcome to Emily Carter Outdoors, a place where I’ll be sharing the incredible beauty of Appalachia through photography, hiking, camping, fishing, scenic drives, and the adventures that come from simply spending more time outside.
Along the way, you’ll also meet my favorite hiking partner, Oakley. He’s an energetic Australian Cattle Dog who never says no to a trail, a creek, or a chance to explore somewhere new. If there’s mud, water, or an unexpected path to investigate, chances are Oakley has already found it.

Why I Started Emily Carter Outdoors
Growing up, I always found peace in nature. Whether it was a quiet forest, a winding mountain road, or the sound of a river flowing through the valley, the outdoors became a place where I could recharge and reconnect.
Photography naturally became an extension of that passion.
Every photograph tells a story. Sometimes it’s an unforgettable sunrise over the mountains. Sometimes it’s a hidden waterfall that few people know exists. Other times, it’s simply Oakley reminding me that the best adventures aren’t always the ones we plan.
My goal is simple:
To encourage more people to slow down, explore, and create lasting memories outdoors.
