<\/p>\nWhen most people think about adventure, they picture a cross-country road trip, a national park vacation, or a plane ticket to somewhere far away. While those trips are unforgettable, I’ve learned that some of my favorite memories have been made just a few miles from home.<\/p>\n
Adventure isn’t measured in distance\u2014it’s measured in curiosity.<\/p>\n
Some mornings, all it takes is grabbing a camera, pouring a cup of coffee, calling Oakley, and heading down a trail I’ve walked a dozen times before. Every season brings something new to notice: different light, changing leaves, fresh wildflowers, or wildlife I’ve never seen before.<\/p>\n
Today I wanted to share five simple ways you can add a little more adventure to your own backyard.<\/p>\n

Trails feel completely different before the rest of the world wakes up. The quiet, cool air and golden light create some of the best moments you’ll experience outdoors.<\/p>\n
You don’t need expensive gear. Your phone is enough. Looking for photos changes the way you notice the world around you.<\/p>\n
Instead of worrying about distance or speed, spend time wandering. Some of my favorite discoveries happened because I wasn’t in a hurry.<\/p>\n
Oakley reminds me that every trail is exciting, even if we’ve walked it before. Watching him enjoy the outdoors reminds me to slow down and appreciate the little things.<\/p>\n
Sometimes the best part of a hike isn’t reaching the destination. It’s sitting on a log with a cup of coffee and simply listening to the forest.<\/p>\n
Adventure isn’t waiting somewhere else.<\/p>\n
It’s waiting outside your front door.<\/p>\n
